What's everyone doing with the real name part of the PS4? I set mine to my GT but I've been reconsidering it some. I'm a little cautious online but at the same time I'm thinking who cares. Its not like the parasite spammers don't already know me. Maybe a little concerned that a local could see that I have some $'s invested I suppose. What are you guys doing?

Not sure Nex, I'll have to research that one a bit. I always assumed the PS4 name is only visible on your home network since you cant connect to the PS4 unless you are on the home network anyway.

I've had mine set to show my PSN ID, though I do see my name whenever I am logged in (assume that is common). Only had 1 name request from someone I actually know, 1 from online only acquaintance. I'm likely to change whom I add as I game more with people online.


Really wish we could create categories and nick names, so I can remember where I am meeting people...

I think I misread the OP. I assume Nex meant 'logged in user' real name and not the PS4 console name???


I have my real first name for user name but I have the settings so it's supposedly not shown. Still creeps me out to see it displayed though. Sony is going to have to come up with some better security/sharing options than facebook before I start making it public (like 'only display to people on my friends list'). Even then I'm not sure I'd reveal my identity...especially to Nex!!!

The real name always shows to the person logged in, yet only shows to everyone else when you allow it. It is a little weird at first, like the console is calling me by name lol. I haven't used my real name or linked to facebook yet and I probably never will.
