PST34 vs ST30...is there ANY difference at all?

2094 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  RandyWalters
I am looking into the TC-65PST34 available only at Costco, but an wondering if this TV is 100% the same as the TCP65ST30? A few years ago, I bought a costco/best buy exclusive 46" panny plasma th-c46fd18, and it was the same as the equivalent except for the bezel and a VGA connection. The one i bought had a matte bezel, instead of the shiny piano finish on the equivalent tv. It also had a VGA connection. The matte finish seems more suitable for a commercial setting. I have also heard something about costco models having a different filter or something (less reflective). Is this true? Thanks

Doesn't appear to be any difference at all - perhaps some cosmetic details? Does the ST34 INCLUDE the wifi dongle?

If you visit Panasonic's web page you can view / download specs for both sets....

The Costco models that had a different filter were the low end 720p models (the Costco version had one while the regular BB version did not). I haven't seen the Costco 65ST34 so i don't know if it has an AR Filter or not, but since the ST30 has an AR Filter and it's bonded directly to the plasma panel itself (unlike the low end models), then i'm presuming that the ST34 will have the same filter.

I looked at the manuals for both models and the only physical difference i can see is that the Costco version adds a PC input (otherwise all the other inputs are the same on both models), but like all Panasonics this PC input doesn't accept any signal higher than 768p so it's kinda useless anyway. The weights and dimensions are identical, the stands and remotes are the same part number, and both come with a Wireless LAN Adapter.

So i guess the only questions are:

1.) Does the Costco version have the same AR Filter like the excellent one that's on the ST30?

2.) Does it have a matte bezel? Or the same shiny/translucent bezel like on the ST30?
