Hello everyone,
I was wondering if there was any way to get input-specific switching on the Panasonic PT-50LC13. In other words, to switch to a specific input (and not just cycle through each attached input manually).
I have a Sony RM-VL1000 programmable remote, and so I can script the sending of signals to multiple equipment pieces...but, in order to script the switch from, say, Component 1 to Video 1, I need to script multiple "input select/tv video" button pushes, then pause (since the picture viewer input takes half a second to startup, preventing any switching briefly), then a few more "input select" pushes to get to Video1.
I used to use a Sony TV and Receiver....they integrated surprisingly well. You could press the "Video 1" button on the Receiver remote, and it would:
Now, after experimenting with the PT-50LC13 and a Panasonic SA-XR45S Receiver (very nice, small, good-looking, great sounding, digital inputs, etc.)...I would guess that Panasonic might not have discrete signals to send to the TV to select a specific input. Furthermore, it seems that the power signal to Panasonic equipment is the same for off and on (or, perhaps, Sony has three signals, one for On, one for Off, and one for Toggle(On->Off or Off->On). And so, it might be there really isn't a way to do this with the Panasonic TV....but I thought I'd check here just in case....
It is a shame to have all these inputs, but no efficient switching mechanism....

- Turn on the Receiver (if it wasn't on)
- Turn on the TV (if it wasn't on)
- Switch the Receiver to Video 1
- Switch the TV to which ever input you specified
