pulling together a top notch htpc, stb, dd/dts and other inputs

after a number of quiet months it sure is great to see the most recent software releases. a tip of the glass to theatertek, power dvd, & zoom - great job guys!!


while i can understand why there are some folks out there that are scratching there heads at why some of us are looking for a package that will help decode 5.1 or higher audio, i know that there are some of us that are foolish enough to live out on the edge. these new software releases help to bring to the front some of the questions that i hope will be resolved over the near future.


As noted, integrating top end audio and video is becoming a hot topic. Using windvd and a maudio 1010 i am able to internally decode 5.1 dvd's, but audio using a hipix remains two channel. I am sure that using one of the hi-def stb's will also lock me into two channel audio.


Any hope in the future of a software package that can pull together the audio and video requirements for dvd's, stb's, and and hd cards?


I realize that this concept is probably a way off before being released, but with the advent of maudio theater and other new sound cards, i am sure that others will going down a similar path.
