Anyone have ideas on push plates for a theatre door.


For now I just took a brass kick plate and used that. Looking for something original like in a theatre.

How about getting an old film reel and modifying it?


If you could get just one side (flange) of the reel and create something with that, it would be pretty cool.

Interesting idea with the film reel. I have one of these film reel drink tables. Cut a reel in half and use half on each door.


The problem is it needs to be functional too because I have fabric and fiberglass on the door - want to protect it from greasy popcorn hands. Don't think there is enough surface area in a film reel for that.


I searched google for brass door pushes. Still looking for something unique.

If you have any friends that operate a machine shop, you could see if they could make something out of brass or aluminum with the idea of a film reel, but different proportions, so that you would have some strength. You could also have it made to look like there is film on the reel by painting it black and maybe making some fine grooves and then painting that section black. This would give a firm push area.
