Spend your money on getting a larger place or larger flat-screen because it's not necessary to spend the kind of money you suggest on audio gear.
A decent 5.1 or 7.2 receiver and you're good to go with HT as double blind studies show that "golden ears" can't reliably pick the more expensive amps when matched for SPL. And with digital download services, players are no longer necessary because digital is digital.
Currently, I'm look at upgrading to either the Denon AVR 1713 or the Marantz SR5007. Ego says I'll go with the Marantz unit; just because it's a Marantz. If beyond HT and listening to music while having a glass of wine with a loved one, how do you plan to use this system?
FWIW, I went through the "audio-nervosa" phase of an audiophile's life and survived. Now? Now I look for decent gear, coupled with decent connects and enjoy the listening experience. I'm in it for the movies, not the gear. The rest of it is esoteric who-ha. At home I listen to music through Sennheiser HD650 headphones and on the road, in ear, Sennheiser IE 8's. For our home movie listening pleasure, we use Klipsch horns and a Samsung UN60ES6100F flatscreen.
The point, it don't get better than what I'm describing, just more expensive.
(Hope the above helps)
