I will shortly be building a htpc (standard cable for moment, as I don’t want to install an antenna, cable is hd through cablevision). Will most likely be using svideo output from my scientific Atlanta hd4200 box. My question is, if you could by the 250 at the same cost (after rebates) as the 150, what would you do? From my past experience with Hauppauge I would expect that with the 150 out support for the 250 will quickly disappear so I may get the 150 anyway (will be using an ir repeater and my home theatre remote so no need for the Hauppauge remote) just not sure how long before it is fully supported by sage/snap stream... Any comments/suggestions are appreciated.

for using MCE, get the 150. For using other software, get the 250. If the software you want to use supports the 150 when you decide to buy, get the 150, since I agree with your support issue. Otherwise get the 250 and you can play now instead of waiting.

I'd suggest doing a little more research before you buy if you haven't already. I'm in the market for a HDTV card as well and from what I've read WinTV is not one of the better solutions... in fact I've seen a lot more outright hostile comments about it than postiive.

mn1265, if I was buying a hd card I would not go with Hauppauge, but for the moment I am not dealing with hd (though I might switch to a newer hd cable box with firewire and try that way). As the card will be for sdtv only it appears that Hauppauge is the way to go (because of their strong connection with MCE), they are one of the most widely supported cards, so just about every piece of htpc software can take advantage of them.
