I'm looking for a mpeg file player that allows me to quickly skip over commercials (or user-defined time intervals). I've tried the major commercial DVR SW like WinDVR, PowerVCRII, ATI MMC, etc. (haven't tried ShowShifter), and only WinDVR seems to provide this functionality out of the box.
In winDVR, you can set the commerical skip and replay intervals, and while watching a pre-recorded show, press the corresponding button and you (almost) instantly go to right places in the rendered file. But I don't know what's up with WinDVR, those functions no longer work so well, it takes now longer than realtime to skip (for example, I set my commercial skip to 60 seconds, and now it takes at least that long for WinDVR to seek to that spot).
The files are recorded using all the aforementioned SW, and they all pretty much exhibit this problem when rendered w/ WinDVD.
Anyone have any recommendations, or any know of any other DirectShow filters that are capable of doing this quickly and reliably?
