Qualia Owners: Did An Extra Bulb Come With The Box?

366 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  bills2k
There was no one local to purchase a Qualia from, so my dealer got it from another dealer, in a different state. The other dealer is authorized, and will invoice me accordingly. I need not mention names.

I have read in reviews that Sony promises to replace the Xenon bulb once if it fizzles out before the three year warranty period is up. I don't find that statement in any of the Sony literature.

Then, I read a review by someone who claims that the AV store in which he works has one, and that an extra bulb comes in the box. You can find it at
http://www.projectorcentral.com/part...pinion_id=4488

Is this true? I received three boxes, one with the projector (that had a bulb in it), the lens box, and the ceiling assembly box. There is no extra bulb in any, and I seriously doubt there was room for one in the box (I've looked).

What is everyone else's experience? And if it's not in the box, does anyone have an idea of how the replacement bulb will be procured?

Thanks,

Nick

No, I didn't get one either. My understanding is that it is like a 3 years guarantee. If you blow the lamp within the 3 years period you get one free, meaning that there is no point to limit your viewing at least below a point that you would less than the 1500 hours after 3 years. I toyed with the idea of asking for the spare lamp sooner, but it is probably not a good idea to stock such a lamp for a year or more.

None of the process about that free lamp is written on any papers I received with the PJ, it is all based on conversation with my dealer.

That's my situation, as well. It seems strange that Sony would "offer" this to people, but only circulate the offer by word of mouth. It has, however, appeared in the major reviews that have covered the Qualia.

In fact, the warranty sheet itself seems pretty scant (as well as the owner's manual). The thing is so easy to use, though, that it may well be all the owner's manual we need.

The guy that gave you the info regarding the extra bulb pulled a fast one. Yes, you are entitled to another free bulb within three years. No, it does not come with the box. Once you register your Qualia with Sony they will know. I did that. They were very polite and professional about it. In the meantime just sit back, relax and enjoy your Qualia.
