Viewing 50" Panasonic plasma in stores I was watching the Hawaiian Tropic pageant and the picture was fantastic; a few days later I saw HDNET World Report which looked much worse. Is the difference in the quality of the picture due to the different programs on HDNET, or attributed to the televisions and/or picture settings I was watching? Thanks.

Yes to both.

World Report always looks good on my 64" CRT-based RPTV, as do most HDNet programs. I get HDNet via NYC's RCN Cable. Presumably that's via a big-dish satellite feed to RCN. If HDNet is being reduced in format from 1920 to 1280 pixels by DirecTV suspect that would make a difference in crispness for some DBS viewers. -- John

those two programs are shot, edited and delivered the exact same way

there is no variance.

what you are experiencing is the degradation of signals among tvs due to splitting the signal.

its not unusual in retail stores.
