Hopefully, they won't do a CR on us and make us either wait for a better version, or double dip....

I would like this one.

Oh I'm sure there will be a special edition or something like that by the end of the year or next year but i'll still be buying this one in March. This movie was not as good as Casino Royale but still a pretty good one IMO. It is one of only 3 I saw in the theatres in 2008.

Nice! I'll be getting this in March as well. Now, let's hope they release another volume or two of the classics as a tie-in!

Your wish is their command. Wave 2 of classic Bond arrives the same day.

I guess I'm in the minority- I thought Quantum of Solace was absolutely as good as Casino Royale. I'll be getting QoS and...

Have we received confirmation of this? Last I heard (from commanderbond.net) was that Wave 2 was still a rumor, and that it was for the week of the 17th.

It wasn't as good as CR, but as an action movie, it wasn't too bad. It has it's issues with some things just not making sense and the camera work and editing on the fight scenes were borderline terrible, but still I enjoyed it overall.

It's not. Lower your expectations that it's worse than Casino Royale - hopefully you'll enjoy it more than I did. They totally dropped the ball when they picked Forster. Guy can't stage action worth a damn. And the movie plays way too closely to Matt Damons's movie, so it's more Bourne than Bond; that and it's over in a snap.

I could swear I saw a Columbia Tri-Star logo when I saw this in theaters. Didn't they buy the rights so they could do the reboot?

And now Fox is doing the BD release and not Sony?

I did enjoy the film - but I totally agree with you - Forster was simply the wrong choice for a Bond flick.

I disagree completely. I thought it was quite excellent and, in spite of all the complaints, the action cinematography and editing left me wanting for nothing. I saw it twice in the theatre and it was more resonant on the second viewing.

As far as the Bourne comparisons (another very common complaint), I can't comment a whole lot. I saw the first Bourne movie. I thought it was ok, but haven't felt compelled to see the others. To the degree that QoS felt similar to Bourne (which never consciously occurred to me when watching it), it was in an enjoyable way.

I also thought QoS was excellent - the plot not quite as coherent as CR, but the action much more consistent and enjoyable (although the opening sequence of CR is one of the best of Bond).

I saw this in a local theater (thanks to those free MovieCash or whatever freebies that came with the Bond BDs) where the lighting was annoying resulting in non-ideal contrast, with the image slightly out of focus - yet still I got engrossed in the film. I really look forward to seeing this at home, and hopefully I'll have a projector by then (otherwise it's the 52" LCD).

...ironically, this will work better on the small screen (150" still counts as small, in this case) as much of the trouble with the direction of the film was keeping track of characters during the frenetic action sequences. Unless you're one to sit in the back row of your multiplex, this was an issue.

I liked the film a lot, I think it's a fine addition (almost an extended epilogue) to CR, without the need for a protracted game of Poker. It's stylish, it's kinetic, and it's fun, I just do hope that they release the disc with all the goodies from day one...Methinks, alas, that ain't going to happen.

I agree completely. I hate these MTv jump cut action scenes, you just can't see a thing. Also you can't get the sense of the scope of the action. In the end, it just makes the movie look cheap, like they didn't have enough time/money to stage things correctly.

In QoS there's absolutely nothing like the grandiose and scope of the crane or airport sequences in CR. And it's not for the lack of budget or try, just the editing and tight framing that kills the scope.

Regarding the logo, here in Brazil I also saw the Columbia Tri-Star Logo. Maybe it's one of those cases of split international rights, but according to my understandig, Sony had aquired worldwide distribuition rights after the reboot.

Well, if you have not seen the Bourne sequels, then in fact you can't really feel the similarities that are being talked about here. The first Bourne is a completely different animal from the sequels. It's action staging of the sequels that QoS mimmics.

+1 on all comments

This is a must-own for me, mainly because my HT has a better picture and sound than the multiplex I saw it in. (This was the comment from my niece who saw it with me.)

I would have enjoyed more espoinage and less action. I thought the Quantum organization had more to offer the plot than it was allowed to.

Some of the chase scenes were very Bourne-like.

I'm curious to see where Bond 23 takes us.

Looking forward to March.

On one level, I like this "serious" Bond, but still the miss the womanizing Bond of old. Can't we have both? I thought the change in direction in CR was adequate, but it may have gone too far in QoS.

I'm you with you all though - still looking forward to picking this up in March.

When did MGM/Fox get the rights to the Bond Films again. (I mean the latest films) I thought Sony Pictures had the rights for the latest films. Not complaining though because i love me some DTS-HDMA sound
