question about 30hs420?

Just a quick question, what do you guys have you contrast settings at that have this TV. I have DVE but it doesn't bloom at any point in the band, so just looking for some advice on where to set it. Thanks for all your help. Just so you know I'm running a DVD 2200 which according to the DVD Shootout with the contrast setting centered has an output of 106 IRE and one notch below was outputting 96 IRE.

It depends on what Picture mode I use. I keep it well below the halfway mark on all modes because it's just too hard on my eyes if it's set any higher. For Pro, Movie, and Standard modes, I keep the contrast between 25-40%. I would just set it by eye and keep it at or below the halfway mark. If it's set too high, you will get what's called "white crush" and will lose a lot of detail.

FYI, it's a good idea to keep the contrast setting low because you'll overdrive the CRT if it's set too high and will shorten the lifespan of it.
Thanks. I appreciate the input. I have it now set at about 35% which for me is just right, not too bright but yet not too dim either.
