Sorry for the lameness, but I just ordered Casino and BB from Amazon and paid for the 2-day delivery...how will these packages arrive? Will it be placed in my mailbox, left at the front door, or worse even for me, a signature be needed upon delivery? Nobody will be home during the middle of the work day! Hope they simply leave my package...I assume they use UPS, so it will just be left?!

That may be true (I hope that it is), but I was told by a friend that UPS was involved in a lawsuit and that as a result they will no longer deliver without a signature.

There was a package at my door from Amazon via UPS yesterday. No signature required. It wasn't an HD DVD though.

That's not true. They leave them at my door all the time. Somestimes in the evenings, but they do not require a signature unless the sender insists (amazon doesn't).

I've found that if you order HD DVDs in pairs from Amazon, you can do free shipping and usually you will get them in your mailbox in a small cardboard envelope in under 3 days from USPS. Usually it's when I order 3,4,5 discs that the shipment takes much longer (the actual shipping time) and comes slowly from USPS or rarely UPS. No matter what, I do orders in pairs maximum now from Amazon.

I always just leave a sticky note on the door asking them to leave all deliveries. I put my name, date, and signature on these notes.


As a result, not once in 15 years has any delivery service refused.

Obviously, I never do this when i am ordering expensive items, but for DVDs and such...

You can sign a release form that UPS and Fed ex each have and will keep them on file...so it becomes part of your delivery record. Now there are exceptions when some companies require a signature ...One Call (electronics company) for example does allow delivery without a signature...so having an excemption on file is meaningless. Another example would be wine or alcohol requires a signature and proof of ID.
