I know (or I think) there's no bass management for 6ch/8ch analog inputs in the 435, but can you change speaker levels? Trying to decide b/w 2005 and 435 which are going for about the same price. Is the TI chip that much better than the ones in the 2005?

435 has better processing. 2005 has more power. If you never use the extra power, it's useless. If you want a little more power, get the 635. If you want a lot of power, get the 2005.

gohd,

more power means cleaner transients and no clipping at peak points. its always good to have more power even if you dont use it. I compare it to a 100hp generic v4 vs 200+hp accord v6.

Both can merge onto freeway, but the v6 gives you a smoother experience. You know you can floor that paddle as you as merge onto the freeway and reach the speed without any hiccups.

Both will reach same freeway speeds eventually, but its the smoothness in transition and easy flow of the power from the engine to the wheels which differentiates between a 70wpc and 120wpc :)

Enough B.S. ;-)

All HK AVRs provide speaker level adjustments for 6/8 Channel inputs.. However certain models also include bass management options as well..

These are the 7300, 1005, 2005, and 630.

Regarding the TI DSP, yes it is more powerful and provides the additional feature of full process Logic 7 and Room EQ..

M Code,

Between 630 and 2005, which one is preferrable, everything else being equal (same speakers and room) ?

Similarily, between 635 and 2005 ?

I've 630 since last 8 months and just recently bought 2005 on the firesale day. Thinking about selling 630 and keep 2005. Or sell both and upgrade to 635.

I'm very much impressed with the sound of 630. I dont know how much difference the room EQ will make.

Thanks

Thanks all. What's the difference between Full Process Logic 7 (in 435 and 635) and regular ol' Logic 7 (in 1005/2005 and others)? I tried skimming this thread, but couldn't find the answer, unless I'm blind:

Also, is HDCD a big deal? It's in the 635, but not the 435/1005/2005.

And, JohnTheDoe, I'm in a similar boat as you. I have the 1005 & just purchased the 2005 (at Fry's), but am now wondering if I should toss 'em both for the EQ and Full Process Logic 7 (if it's a big deal) of the 435/635. Also, I don't care about bass management for 6/8ch, as long as I can channel trim on the fly. So, now leaning towards 435/635 over the 1005/2005. Seems like most recommend the 2005 only if you really need the juice...but we sure did get it for a sweet price.

My guess is 1 yr from now DRP 2005 will be officially around 500 and so will the 635. I hope to enjoy my dpr for atleast 1 yr and then may be trade it for 635 ;-)

I bought the 630 last dec from frys for the same price of dpr 2005. But I guess its $50 cheaper right now (if you can find an open box of 630).

I've lined up a buyer for the 630, contigency that I'm keeping the dpr. Will plug in the dpr this weekend and try to compare my demo dvd selection with 630 before plugging it in and with 2005 after i plug it in.

If you are in west san jose, you are welcome to stop by for before and after demo ;-)
