I have an old Onkyo receiver. I understand that there is a core DTS stream within the DTS-HD stream, however, would my receiver still be able to decode the DTS core if the DTS-HD stream came over an optical cable? I ask because I get no sound from an MKV with DTS HD using MPC-HC over an optical cable to my Onkyo receiver. MKVs with regular DTS works fine though. So I'm just trying to figure out of its a software problem vs hardware problem. I am using ffdshow with MPC-HC on Windows 7. Any ideas on how to get my receiver to receive DTS signals?

Thank you.

It honestly depends on the player, if it recognizes and the HD track it may look for an HDCP link and see none so it will not transfer the audio... My recommendation is to re rip the file and leave out the HD track portion...
