Hello all,

First off I am a newbie and please be patient with my ignorance. I frequented this site a long time ago but have been out of the loop for quite sometime.

My question is; Can I come off of a Blue Ray player with optical out to an older Surround receiver's optical in while running the Blue Ray's HDMI straight to the projector and still achieve surround sound while projecting. Will everything sync right? Sorry if this sounds stupid, I am really new and just starting out.

Also, sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

well, yes, it's the wrong forum, but that's ok...

yes, you can do what you want... obviously, you won't get the hi-res codecs, but that's far from the end of the world.... as long as your avr will decode dd and dts, you'll be fine...
