I have a STR DA30ES receiver and I'm thinking about getting some new speaker cables (Monster's Z1 series), which have banana plugs. I'm pretty sure my receiver's speaker inputs will accept banana plugs, but I just wanted to confirm it here. This receiver's pretty old (gotta be close to 10 years). Do most receivers accept banana plugs?

I've also got a pair of Boston Micro90 satellites, and I'm curious if those will accept banana plugs as well.

A banana plug is standardized and only comes in one size. But one potential problem is that it used to be common to have 2 plugs fixed in one molding with a 3/4" separation. Components used to have 3/4" separartion too and so you'd use the positve and negative legs on those combined (dual) banana plugs. Today, the spacing is not usually 3/4" on components and so you'd have a problem with the dual plugs. I think it's some sort of safety requirement that no longer allows for the 3/4" spacing. In any event, a single plug will always work. And if your equipment is old, then maybe the dual will work too.
