I'm looking at buying a used Harman/Kardon AVR 247 or 347 and came across a listing for a 247 that is missing all of the accessories (just the receiver unit). Could someone please let me know what problems I might run into by not having the factory remote or other normal accessories? Any help would be much appreciated.

PS - I posted this question in the AVR 247/347 discussion thread as well but that thread is looking a little dead (based on the recent reply history).

I hope you're getting a GREAT deal on this 247 because on ebay at Harman Audio's store they are selling AVR-254's for around $200 and that comes with everything.

Anyway, without the additional accessories you won't receive any FM stereo, you won't be able to run the EZsetEQ room calibration and needless to say, you won't be able to use the receiver unless you get up to change things manually on the unit each time. Unless someone was giving me this for next to nothing I wouldn't bother with the hassle...I'd buck up and spend $200 or so on a 254.

I would like to buy a refurbed AVR 254 as you mentioned but they (Harman Audio) refuse to sell to anyone outside of the US and I am based in Canada. I have a US shipping address as I live right on the border but they still won't sell to me as my PayPal account is Canadian based. The receiver would be $150 and I was meaning to run it with a Logitech Harmony remote. I guess the real missing feature would be the calibration mic.
