I do, somewhere on a cd, but it will not help you I guarantee it. The software allows some limited adjustment on earlier models not on the 1020 and not for the problem I'm sure you're experiencing.

The problem you have is failing capacitors on the mainboard, which cap I don't know, but one of the hundreds on the mainboard that all look the same.

I may have a NOS 1020 motherboard still. That could do it. I'll have to check to see if it's the 1020 board I have or 1030 etc.

I'll get back to you.

thanks Troy,

i tried with extreme failure to adjust both the panels and mirrors without any improvement.

i imagine i could go about testing the capacitors individually (if thats possible?).

i use a vt440 as well, but would really like to get the 1020 working.

let me know what you find.

thanks again

If you made ANY adjustment to the optics you are totally and completely forever unescapably doomed! You now have a parts machine to sell. The only way in the world to adjust the optics on these is at the factory with a special setup.

NEC will fix it for a flat rate of $1500. Isn't that helpful of them?

I looked at the board I have and it's not for a 1020. Must be for a 1030 or later as it has pcmcia slots on it.

If you like to be able to fix things yourself you should get out of bulb pj's and get a crt pj.

The cd is in stacks of thousands of other cd's. If I thought there was even a slight chance it could help you, I would attempt to find it, but there is simple ZERO chance it will do you any good at all. I'm sorry, but it's completely pointless for me to spend all the time to search for it. I'm not saying it's just because you mucked with the optics... I'm saying regardless of anything there is no adjustment the software can make on a 1020.

Serioulsy... You have a lost cause. Know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away, and know when to run.

:) Damn and I don't even like country music.

sometimes, giving up is just too easy.

these things are simple electronics, after all. if its a messed up board, then i can accept that. but if its a hardware issue, that should be fixable, right?

general LCD projector question to anyone: what re-fuses the 3 panels image?

oh, and thanks for your replies. i didnt think the software would be terribly helpful, but your archived posts seemed to indicate otherwise.

About all the software can do on a 1020 is muck with color balances and brightness etc. Well, that and flash it, or destroy the menu's and really mess things up. Just for the record there's no directions, it's not user friendly, there are mixed versions of various programs that do and don't work properly on various models and no way to tell what progtram to use for what model.

In the wrong hands, you could end up like mine did with the flash lost and then no menu's, on top of being misaligned. This was one of the horror stories on my digital pj repair attempts that drove me to crt projectors....

And so here I am. Exclusively in the crt forum.
