hey,

i just bought this player but it didn't come with a power cord. and i was wondering what kind of ac cord it takes.

so if you could kindly do me a favor and check, describe, or provide me with a picture of what it looks like that would be great. because from the back, it looks like your average computer power cord but missing the third pin which i suspected was for the ground. i am curious as to whether it uses the same cord as my computer, but cautious about trying it out.

thanks!

hm...i just tried the standard computer cord and it's acting really weird. sometimes it powers on and just shows "---", other times it plays, and in the worst case nothing happens and no power.

just great...hopefully this is not the player. now i am really curious as to if its the cord or the player.

can someone check to see if the philips power cord looks like the computer's? and maybe try to see if it works if it does. the reason i think they my differ is because the back of the philips player looks like this:

Hi h3nG !

I also use computer cord for the 963sa, and the player just doing fine !

Since you mention that your 963sa do not come with a power cord, will it be possible that there is something wrong with your purchase itself ?

i got an open box one...before having read some pretty nasty reliability problem with this player. i am surprised non of the professional reviews i've read ran into any problems.

anyways, i have no clue what the problem is. i guess this pretty much confirms that this player is a faulty. one thing i have discovered is that it works perfectly fine upside down...go figure. that's really weird though, anyone else have ran into this problem and know how to fix it?

Hi there,

I am suspecting that you have gotten a faulty set. The extra pin out from your computer is for the ground and the 963SA can work without it. In fact, the stock power cord comes with a 2-point socket. I upgraded it to a better quality power cable with Harbell plug instead.

A standard computer power cord would work as well, I used one to burn in the set.

If you still have the warranty on the set, I suggest you sent it in. Its a shame as I think its a good set to have.

Cheers!

should run with computer cord

did you buy it new or used I would assume the player has a fault

or could be someone tried installing new firmware and it crashed during the process thus and intermittent fault

I would return if if possible if new you will not have a problem

My player has some occasional issues that I believe are related to the power cable. Where can I get a better cable for my player? Any online merchants. I have the US model.

I read that replacing the power cord with a better one solved a lot of problems for somebody else's 963. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am actually based in Singapore with the model without the SCART connection. However, I am using the Harbell plug power cord. Power cords are independent of the voltage rating in that sense. They just have to fit the electrical socket. :D For me, my power extension strip is meant for Harbell plugs.

I would think that the power cord wouldn't solve some of the issues you face on the 963SA; in my case, it is really to have a cleaner sound.

Hope this helps.
