I am having problems getting my DTS DVD's (Bone Collector and Private Ryan) to go DTS.

Was wondering if anyone else has this problem. The really strange thing is that if I use my Ultimate DVD platinum and pass DTS from there it works.

Arrrrgghhh...help...

Thanks,

I don't know what an "Ultimate DVD Platinium"

is, but I've not had a problem with any of the 8 DTS DVD's I own, among them "Saving Private Ryan".

I use a Toshiba 2108 DVD Player and Acurus ACT 3 processor. The only thing I have to do, is choose DTS from the sound menu of the DVD when I start the disc. The default setting is Dolby Digital.

I wish the Studios would default to DTS on a DTS disc and Dolby Digital on a DD disc. I always check the sound menu before watching any movie.

You can seriously damage your system if you select DTS and are not going thru a DTS decoder! This is why you will never see it default to DTS. You should be able to select DTS audio from the DVD audio menu.

I dont know what the platinum is either. But on some DVD players you need to enable DTS from the DVD player's setup menu before it will play DTS the first time.

Ultimate DVD: Platinum is a DVD that allows you to test samples of video and audio in stereo 2.0, DD5.1, and DTS5.1 It also has many (if not all) of the calibration tools of Video Essentials and AVIA. I haven't seen AVIA, so I don't know for sure about it.

This DVD (as well as a Gold and Silver version) were just release in January of this year.

Thanks for all the help. I did some research and found that the crappy place I bought my SPR DVD from online put a DD DVD in a DTS case. So I ordered another one from a different source.

essentials before those metallic

discs came out. That is pretty cheesy,
