Question on LCD Monitor

641 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  chrisherbert
I wasn't sure where to post this so I found the closest thing I could, sorry if I'm in the wrong place.

I'm shopping for a new widescreen LCD monitor for the computer and was wondering what the "minimum" specs are for watching DVDs and movie files. For example, the response time (8ms, 5ms, etc.), the contrast ratio, and brightness.

If you have any suggestions from personal experience, that'd be most appreciated as well. Thank you!

There are no minimum specs. Whatever you buy, no matter how inexpensive, will display movies and DVDs. Some will certainly do a better job, but there's no line that can be drawn.
I mean for optimal quality. Perhaps problems with ghosting or something like that, blurring images, poor color quality, etc. I know there aren't any real "minimum" specs or anything, but surely there are recommendations?
Unfortunately the manufacturer's specs are usually not very useful. The best thing to do is check out reviews.
