For those that own a Sony Upconverting player, does the Digital Coax transmit sound when the HDMI connection is used for video directly to the TV?

I'll be running HDMI to my TV and Digital Coax to my Receiver and want to make sure I'll get sound that way before purchasing the DVP-NS710.

Also, if anyone is using HDMI->DVI I'd like to be sure that that works too since my 5 year old RPTV only has DVI.

(I imagine the earlier versions that are very similar work the same as this current unit.)

Thanks!

I'd be very surprised if it doesn't (coax audio output). HDMI->DVI may present a problem if the Sony converts to PC RGB (instead of studio levels) when it connects to DVI. This was somewhat of an issue when HDMI players first came out, not sure if any still have the problem today.

I'm late to this conversation but I have the same dvd player and use it HDMI to TV and Digital Coax to receiver and have no problems at all. Great dvd player so far and I only paid $35 for it at Nebraska Furniture Mart a couple months ago. I don't use DVI, sorry.
