I am going to buy Motion 40 and connect them to Pioneeer VSX-23THX. Speakers are listed at 4 ohms and receiver is listed as 8 ohms, can be changed to 6 ohms. Is it safe to hook it up? I am also going to bi-amp the speakers.

I wouldn't worry about it personally. Those ratings are done at full output power. You aren't likely to get anywhere near full power. Just be advised that could damage the amps if you were to crank the volume to full. Leave the receiver set to 8 ohms. Setting it 6 ohms acts like governor. I drive 4 ohm speakers every day with a bottom of the line Pioneer receiver.
