I have been using an old Onkyo Receiver (TX-SV444) for over 12 years. It's nothing fancy but it sounds great in my medium-sized room.
Recently, I inherited a Denon Receiver (DRA-395). I have listened to both of them and honestly I can't really tell much of a difference, although given that it takes me at least 5 minutes to switch between the two, it's hard to be confident in my comparison.
In any case, I don't have use for more than one receiver and I'm trying to figure out it the new one is an upgrade at all, and whether I should use it to replace my old Onkyo. The Onkyo has more speaker connections (for center and rear channels), but the Denon seems to have multiroom functionality. I don't really need either fuction at this time - I just use the receiver for two speakers and a sub to listen to music. Also, I can't seem to make an easy comparison between the power output of the two receivers, so I don't know whether the Denon is an upgrade in that regard, either.
Anyway, I'm a novice when it comes to stereo equipment so I thought I'd ask for any opinions here. Thanks in advance.
