More specifically, HK's digital amps. Can anyone give me a side by side comparison as to how they sound(DPR vs AVR). I've heard the 1001, and it sounded great, but I haven't heard any of the AVR.

Secondly, how well do the DPR's handle low resistance, low sensitivity sats? I'm going to hook up CV's 5.1 system to it, which has a 90dB center, but 87dB sats. All are 4 ohm. The 1001 I had for a short amount of time, so I wasn't able to test it's abilities to the fullest.

I notice their DPR series has a .15% THD, which is more than 2x of the AVR series. Should I be concerned?

I guess I don't care about video upconversion anymore, especially since I won't be connecting more than one thing to the TV, and it doesn't improve video quality(I really don't play consoles). If I ever get that serious, I will buy a dedicated receiver for the TV system.

So, my last quam is the EzSet feature. Is it that big of a deal, or easily fixed with an SPL meter?

I was going to wait for the newer AVR models, but the guy I am in contact with at HarmanAudio said not until January...not even in production until november. Don't want to wait that long. I'm considering the DPR 1005 because the I can get a discount on it and it's the only higher end model they have in stock. The next step down in stock is the AVR 230(and not replenishing until mid November). So I will either get this or the Pioneer 1014TX. My gut says to go with the HK.

I wouldn't look at the 1001 as a comparison to the newer 1005/2005 models. The 1001 is over 2 years old and was HK's first attempt at dpr and had its ups and downs. The 1005/2005 should be much much better. The 1005 seems identical to the 2005 except for the watt output. There was a long thread on the 2005 i remember seeing, you should check that. You seem to be getting a good deal on the 1005. Makes me feel like getting the open box 1001 with hopes of exchanging it for a 1005. :)

I am looking for a receiver and I'm also eyeing the 1014. Ezset sounds cool but i don't believe its as accurate as using an SPL meter. Ezset doesn't do EQ either (though the new ones do). Pioneers MCACC seems to work really well though and also does EQ.
