A friend and i are going RPTV shopping this weekend and have decided to get the 48313 unless we can find last years model on clearance. He only has a small area to put the TV and getting it in the basement will be a problem so nothing larger will work.

Are the new line doublers and DVI worth the extra money. He will have his PC and DVD player connected right now and will get into HDTV soon. Thanks for any comments.

The general consensus on the board (afaik) is that the new Mits line doubler is worth the money. I have a Mits 48613, and it is impresive. (See kippjones review for more info). If your friend is hooking up his PC, then you'll definately want the DVI unless you already have a transcoder or other component/rgbhv adapter already, IMHO.

Don't get last year's model if you plan to watch a lot of SD broadcasts. I have last year's diamond and thought I got a good deal at the end of the model year, right before the new ones started showing up.

Can't stand watching "regular" TV anymore but DVD and HD look wonderful.

Yes he did. He didn't get a deal on it due to needing the financing but he loves it so far. We are going to rip apart his basement and make room for a different HT setup.
