I bought a 100gig 7200 rpm WD hard drive from fry's for 139 and was going to use it to upgrade my UTV which is brand new out of the box. I went back today and saw they had 120gig 5400 rpm WD hard drive for 129. I have been reading alot about the noise problems people are having, can somebody tell what they would recommend. Would the 5400 be quiter also would it be fast enough at 5400 rpm.

Thanks

5400rpm drives are fine as the original drives are 5400rpm. 5400rpm drives will be cooler than 7200rpm drives as well as quieter.

I generally make two recommendations. If space is your primary concern then the WDC 1200AB is the best unit, if you are concerned with noise than the Seagate U6 80GB is the best model (both drives are 5400RPM). Unfortunately Seagate has yet to make a 120GB drive, but if they did the U6 120GB would be the all-around best choice.
