Ok, I have these laser discs that don't have the Digital Audio picture on the front of the cover and when I try to record the audio via optical, nothing comes out, however when I use one that does have the Digital Audio picture on it, it works fine. Does this mean LDs won't output via optical if it doesn't have digital audio? (i know it's a stupid question)
The player would require an internal A/D converter to output the analog track via the optical (or coaxial) jack. I've owned a few laserdisc players and have yet to see one with such a feature.
Yes, if there are no digital tracks on the disc, it can't output anything via the digital outputs. The disc would have two analog tracks, which can output sound via the analog outputs.
