Quick, quick! - Infinity PS10 or JBL E250?

884 Views 9 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  riker1384
I want to get a sub ordered for my brother's HT and wrap the receipt for Christmas. I'm leaning towards the Infinity PS10 or maybe the JBL E250. Athena's earlier subs sounded decent to me but the AS-P4000 is a little light at 25 lbs as opposed to the others at 40lbs. Which of theses is best, or is there something else for less than $270?

Out of all of them, the Infinity would be the best sounding...... BUT, if it were me, for the same price, one could get 2 Dayton 10"s and a BFD. Just a thought.
http://www.velodyne.com/velodyne/pro...0&sid=176e748v If you looks around you can get a deal for the 12" under $250 really nice. The 10" even less but probally not in time for xmasahhh just need the receipt. IMO these are good Even the h100 would be better in your range JMO

The 12 is $350 and the 10 $250 at the authorized dealers online.

I don't think he wants to bother with that. He's not much of an audiophile. So the PS10 is better, but what about the bigger E250 for someone who's not real critical? Is it much worse?
I used to own two E250s and they were decent subwoofers. I wouldn't pay $350 for one but at the lower internet prices it is a good value. However, it won't go below 25Hz and it is louder at 35-45Hz than anywhere else which might make it sound boomy to you. The build quality is excellent though.
Well I went ahead and ordered a black E250. I wrapped the receipt and put it under the tree. So I guess we'll find out how good it is.
If he's never had a subwoofer before or if it doesn't really matter to your bro, I have no doubt he will be pleased. I owned an older JBL PB12 that I loved. Merry X-mas!!!!

FWIW I found a 12 for less than the 10" price you posted from an autherized dealer on the Velodyne webpage. Means you need to find what you want and shop when the deals come out you need to jump at them.I wasn't even looking at Velodyne but the deal made me jump. I just wanted a decent entry level sub for a small room sound good and shakes the room alot. And I agree the 12" jbl he probally will like alot especially since he doesn't have one?? Nice brother
It's replacing an 8" HTIB toy but he's heard my PSB Subsonic 6 so I want to get something decent.
