Does anybody make/sell a ceiling mount with some sort of quick release hardware so I can easily remove the PJ and keep the mount firmly in place? Or, is there a wing nut type of assembly available for the adapter plate to PJ connection?

I'm looking to use this with the infocus 4805.

Thanks,

My DIY mounts for two x1's (one mine and one a family member's) don't use the adapter plates and mounting bolts at all. One is lashed to the ceiling with two tie-down straps. and to remove the projector you just unbuckle the straps(like a seatbelt). The other mount is two loops of galvanized strapping that the upside-down projector rests on. I saw another mount on this forum that was an open wooden box (top bottom and two sides-front and back are open) that the upside down projector sits inside of. All of these are quick release.

I'd be a little scared to use the mounting screws- too shallow and your PJ comes crashing to the floor. Too deep and you strip the threads at best or damage the PJ at worst. Wrong thread pitch and you strip the threads at best or send your pj crashing to the floor at worst. I'm more comfortable with something solid under the projector.

If the projector is resting upside down on a solid surface, how does it breathe? Also, you can't access the controls. I doubt my wife will accept a strapping system or "box", but these are good ideas to think about!

I don't know about the 4805, but the x1 has vents on the front and the back, not the top and bottom. Also on my 2 mounts it sits between two straps, not on a flat solid surface. The buttons are still reachable, on the box mount, I imagine he used rubber feet or something. As for controls, that's what the remote is for. Just point the remote at the screen and it will reflect back to the projector.

My own strapping system is a little on the ugly side, and looks thrown together, but I'm no carpenter. I think a good looking mount built along the same lines could be put together without too much trouble. Just think of two hoops.

I'm sure the traditional mounts are not too hard to get a projector down from.

Not owning one, I don't know how.
