DWIN TV3 $10,500 does NOT have new Color Wheel. No change in specs so far from HD2 version.

Marantz VP-12S3 $13,000/$17,000 w/long throw lens

Sharp XV-Z12000 $12,000

InFocus ScreenPlay 7205/Toshiba MT800 $10,000

There were reports that the Samsung and the Optoma both would and would not switch to the HD2+ chip.

There's some other features that make a difference too.

The Marantz S3 has a new A/C lamp (opposed to the other PJ's which are still D/C). This eliminates bulb flicker. And the S3 also has a self calibration (grayscale) circuit.

Actually, I think you have the A/C and D/C switched.

The problem with waiting for all of these projs. to be reviewed by Greg, or some other compotent reviewer, is that by the time they are all reviewed we'll have HD3 chip and 8 segment color wheel projs. and want those reviewed. (No, I have heard nothing about either; it's just a comment on how fast things change in the world of solid state projs.)

Anyway, we all know these companies give ultra-accurate specs, and would never misrepresent their products.

Also, the Infocus 7205 (which seems to have disappeared from their web site at the moment) apparently can undo 3:2 frame cadence when displaying film at 480P 60Hz. Presumably it displays film at 48 Hz (or 72 Hz) ?.

This would have to help the appearance of scrolling credits but I wonder if this might not also be a BIG DEAL in general for greater "film like" appearance when any sort of motion is present.

Is this capability unique to the 7205 ?. I havn't seen any discussion on this.
