Hello,

I am looking for a somewhat quiet 1U power supply (approx 250watts) that I can use for my new 1U HTPC build (core i5 processor, H55 board).

I now have an iStar PSU which is very, very loud. Any suggestions on a reasonable 1U quiet power supply? Does one even exist?

Thanks,

wuiet 1U power supplies are not the easiest. I think I remember helping you spec out the build and assuming you have only one hard drive and one optical drive and are using onboard video and any sound card you want, you really shouldn't need more than 150W. Assuming that my previous assumption is true, you should look into pico-psus or equivalent. Their completely passive, so essentially silent, and are in the 90% efficiency range.

Yes, you did help me spec out the build over in my 1U HTPC thread. Thank you again for all your help.

I considered posting in that thread but I figured a specific thread for a quiet 1U PSU may help others.

Yes, your assumptions are correct. I only have 1 optical drive (BR-Rom), one hard drive (WD Green), and use on-board video and sound via the Gigabyte H55 mobo you selected with the Core i5 650 processor.

The item you recommended looks sweet!

Thanks!
