I apologize if this has been discussed previously; I couldn't find anything here...

I'm using several of these (6) for my HT setup, and they will be mounted into a MA Slim 5 - 37 rack with some other equipment in a closet.

My question relates to heat; I don't want to use 3U for each amp as I don't have the space, so I want to unscrew the rubber legs on the bottom to keep each amp within 2U of space. The A500 has vents on the top and I am worried about heat buildup with 6 stacked on top of each other.

If anybody else has a similar setup/experience I would appreciate any info.....

Well they are passively convection cooled and clearly designed for rack mounting. So you'll probably be okay, but you really might want to look into getting some quiet fans to ensure air circulation. With passive cooling they can live or die by the amount of airflow.

Makes sense, the rack does have 4" knock-outs at the top for 2 fans. I could rig something up to mount a couple more fans to move air directly over the heatsink fins.
