hi ihave a gforce 2 card and i want to get a radeon 7500 will it work with windows xp home

I have the Radeon 7500 AIW, which I will assume it's the exact same card. I also have XP Pro edition, which once again, I'll assume it's the same OS (minus some network features).


I have tried 98se, ME, W2k and XP. I actually started off with XP and now I'm back. It always gave me the best performance and stability as well as razor sharp graphics.

The standard 7500 built by ATI works fine for me with XP with the 6025 driver.

I have a "powered by ATI" 7500 card and it works

on XP, 2K, ME, 98, and linux.

I own a small computer retailer, testing a bunch of cards, and Windows XP has had a LOT of problems in regards to DVD playback. The Via 266(A) chipset combined with ANY Radeon card STILL has major problems. I am naturally not blaming Windows XP, but many subcomponent producers still have compatibility issues with XP. This is often a driver issue, but still its a problem that most often is not apparent on for example Win98.

What sort of problems are you seeing on a via266 & 7500 mix?

That is the chipset on my motherboard, and I have no problems.


My motherboard is a "Mainboard P4X-266" model P4XB-S.

Jon, i'm sorry for the sarcasm, i put smilies just to point out i was hilariuos, not sarcastic. Anyway the strangest thing about this thread it's that it stays in the first page since 3 days. Maybe because the question was so obvious (just a little search would have revealed a world of discussions)

the reason i didnt research this subject was because i dont have enough time. i start work at 4.30 in the morning and dont normally get home till 6.30 or seven. i thought that the idea for this sight was to ask questions ,and maybe meet some nice people that liked to help out us no hopers that know nothing. thanks to every body else
