I'm setting up an HTPC and have been reading the Radeon guide for configuring the Radeon card for optimal performance. In the area that discusses configuration, if you're using the ATI DVD player, it talks about setting the following value in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\ATI Technologies\\Multimedia\\Features\\DVD

WideScreenDisplay=1

I'm not sure I understand what this does and if it's needed for my particular configuration. I'm using the HTPC with a Davis DL450 clone. Can someone shed some light on this registry change and tell me if it's something I should be using with a Davis DL450. Thanks.

I believe that you only need the widescreenDisplay=1 if you are using a non-square pixel resolution. So if you have a 16x9 display and use a 16x9 resolution (such as 960x540) then you just leave it set to zero. The Davis probably has a 4x3 so if you run a 4x3 resolution then leave it set to zero.
