I used to very readily be able to see rainbows on my x1, but with time I noticed that I could BARELY see them. Since then I purchsaed a BenQ 6200 and with that I would see a rainbow MAYBE every 3 or 4 movies.

I took a 1 month break from my projector and upon my return viewing I saw 4-5 rainbows in my first movie but once again 4 movies later I cant notice them at all.

The point Im trying to make is in reference to those posts I readwhere a lot of people are returning projectors because of rainbows I really recommend that you give it sometime maybe a week or two before you return it.

I have same projector and also can vouch for the fact that they do go away over time - I was greatly relieved that the brain is so adaptable. Very hard to see them any more - actually have to try.

I agree, I can't remember the last time I have seen the rainbow effect from my X1. Except maybe a couple weeks ago while fumbling my way back to the seat I tripped on something and cracked my noggin on a table and for just a split second I think I saw one but besides that nothing.

I should add that I now pick up on rainbows in things I never had before, such as the headlight of cars in my rearview mirror. Go figure.

haha thats pretty funny Mike, theres a big chance that rainbow you saw wasnt because of the projector :)

I just wanted to throw that out there because since the beginning of DLP technology such a HUGE emphasis has been put on rainbows that I think it also bares metnioning that its probably not perminent for most if not all of us.

I've had my X1 for almost 2 years now. When I first got it I could see them alot, almost to the point where I was thinking about returning it. Then I guess I got used to them because I never see them anymore. I also do tons of gaming on it where I have to move my eyes around alot and I still never see them. The only way I ever notice them anymore is if i look up at the actual projector and move my eyes around really fast, the light coming out of the front of the lens will give a rainbow effect.

I guess I should consider myself lucky as I can stick to DLP projectors instead of being forced to use an LCD.

I absolutely agree... Rainbows have decreased dramatically for me. I have had my NEC lt-85 (rainbow machine) for about 3 years now, and while I saw a lot of rainbows at the beginning, I rarely ever notice them anymore.

Totally agree - When I first got my X1 - first movie was IceAge. The rainbows nearly killed me. One every 3min or so.

Now - I don't even see them on the dreaded THX optimizer circle test.
