Raising subwoofer on stand?

223 Views 0 Replies 1 Participant Last post by  Farid Muakkassa
I am building a custom made wall to wall cabinet to house my RPTV, front L&R speakers, central speakers, equipment and the subwoofer (Paradigm Reference Servo 15). The subwoofer has a clearance of 1 7/8" long from the bottom (with spikes) to the lower edge of the subwoofer cone. The cabinet will have a 3" trim above the floor so if I place the sub on the floor behind the trim part of the cone will be covered. Can I raise the subwoofer on a 3" speaker stand that sits on the floor inside tyhe cabinet so it remains isolated from the rest of the cabinet wood work? Does the subwoofer looses its punch if lifted off the floor. It stands on spikes anyway. Are there long 3" spikes that I can use?

Thanks for the help.
