I have a large metal vent in my home theater (12" x 18") that covers a large ventilation duct. The vent is hinged and then locked in place with two simple clips. This obviously creates some serious rattles when the subwoofer is really going. There don't seem to be any rattles coming from the duct behind the vent, but I really need to do something about the vent.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Open the vent. Attached some sticky weather treatments for doors/window on either the cover or the wall it comes in contact with (enough so that when you close the vent, you have to compress it to get the clips to close tightly). As long as you put enough in there to make it difficult to close and latch, I think it would resolve the issue.

i had a similar problem on a Honda CRX (man i miss that car). The hatch would rattle on the latching mechanism.

I fixed it with good old electrical tape (wraped it around the latch).
