Hey all, got this one for Xmas and it appears to have very good reviews from what I have seen, will watch and for me more importantly listen to this one tonight, perhaps another audio gem?

Tune in later

Cheers to you all and a Happy New Year!

I watched this two days ago. It was made 11 years ago with Japanese HD cameras. You can easily see poorer Picture Quality (especially less color saturation) compared with more recent disks. However, if you like Ray Charles, you'll want to see it.

About 20% of the performance does not include Ray.

How is the audio?
Audio is good, not great.

Ray vocals are sometimes drowned out by the supporting vocals.

This is a short concert. Ray's performance is about 30 minutes total. The rest is filler (testimonials from friends; fill-in performers).

Thanks. Damn, that is short!

Just my opinion here but I found the set list a little weak for my liking.

PQ is actually pretty darn good. Lots of sweating on this stage, must have been hot!

AQ....first song Ray sings sounds like they didn't do a sound check, his voice was very low in the mix, AQ got much better after a few more songs. Bass is very low in the mix, kick drum and bass guitar are almost non existant which tends to give the whole mix a rather unbalanced feel with the big horn section and backup singers overpowering the sound stage.

Rent it first unless you are a huge fan...which I am.
