razer copperhead mouse install help

5159 Views 10 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  duplicado
Anyone else have this mouse and having and problems installing it. Windows detects the mouse but when I install the downloaded drivers the mouse isnt detected and I cant even use it at all. If anyone has any experience getting these to work so I dont have to call Razer tomorrow that would be great. It lights up on startup then when I put in my password it goes away, I cant even get it to work as a normal mouse. I have manually deleted the regeistry twice with no dice. Any Ideas?

Thanks

No , no problems here I just installed 2 of them in the last week. By default windows detects it as a usb mouse and works right off the bat. I think it even says razer, but of course I always download the driver set from razer. Did you flash to new firmware. I LOVE the mouse by the way.
Are you running vista? If so, point the device installer into the windows/system32 directory and it'll find the usb drivers if it's coming up with unknown device. This has driven me crazy for a long time. Just a thought.

I am running windows XP pro but I now think I have USB 1.0 because my computer is old, it detects the mouse but windows will not install default drivers. I am going to buy a PCI usb 2.0 on the cheap today and try that and if that doesnt work then Ill call I guess I cant figure it out here.
Turn the "Legacy USB support" feature in the motherboards' BIOS OFF
I can't imagine your computer is old enough to not support USB2.0 if you are bothering to buy a mid-high end gaming mouse for it.

As mentioned, check your bios config for your USB settings.

Also have you tried going into control panel -> system -> hardware settings, and manually forcing a driver update on the mouse? For whatever reason, the mouse may have latched onto a different set of drivers and xp is not allowing the razer driver install to find the mouse because xp thinks it's already configured.

I tried to force using hardware settings already
. I just need a PCI Usb card here I hooked it up to the Wife's computer and it fired up so I am going to pick up a card tonight.

It is old I got it when I was in college and I am now 1.5 years or so out but I got the mouse on the cheap with the dell coupons last week so I figured I would go ahead and pick it up. I am going to be building a new one around may or so, so why not enjoy the mouse while I CS until then?

I dont think I have the legacy support since I am the legacy
. I looked all over my BIOS.

Thanks for the suggestions Ill post how the new USB ports go. I called Razer and they said I needed USB 2.0 when all that is listed is a free USB port oh well.

I got it working now and it is good, I had to do a few magic tricks though to get it to work.

Hi, I'm having the same problem you had, I just can't make it work. If you could tell me what you did. I'm running on Vista..

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi, never mind the previous post...because I got it!!!
Just went to Razer's support site and found an article that says how to reinstall the driver and worked just fine. I'm just glad it worked. The mouse is awesome!!!!

Stay cool!
