I'm almost at the stage to start mounting my RC1. The manufacturer of the RC (Bailey) pictures the flange up. However, this months issue of HTBuilder states to mount the flange down. Does it matter?

Also, for the ceiling, if my joists run perindicular to the front, which direction should the flange face?'

thanks,

Steven

Funny..... A co-worker & I were discussing this same topic. In all of the professional books we have it shows the flange pointing up with exception to the one closest to the floor. Product brochure & discriptions all show it pointing up also.

You use a different RC type for the ceiling called a hat flange. It looks like a squared off "U". It's installed with the bottom of the "U" towards the floor. Ceiling RC's are installed perpendicular to the joists.
