hey people, recently I stumbled upon two electric automatic drapery closers. They are switched with a relay triggered by a sqeaky toy (seriously :) ) I would like to find something that I can program in to my pronto like an RC controlled outlet. even better would be one that has a RF blaster or something like that, so I can hide everything except for the eye.

Any ideas?? I am doing this on a serious budget, so cheaper is better, thanks much,

Best solution I've found was this IR reciever with relays: http://www.electronickits.com/kit/co...lec/ck1615.htm

This board is a 12 channel board for $44. They make smaller ones, but even the 1 channel version is still $35. The relays are 240V 10A, so they'll work fine as a 120V "RC outlet".

I use one of these to control a motor ( http://www.meci.com/Catalog/Item/88d...9-c27c40b64814 ) that runs my masking. I've found that the movement is precise enough that I can program Girder with a IR repeat to go from 16x9 to 2.35:1 (I do have wide open and closed stops just in case). I've wired one relay for forward, one relay for reverse.

Not yet, but I can take some tonight... it's (as is everything) a work in progress and, while functional, still not a wonderful design. It's heavily based on a design posted in the screens forum about a year or so ago that used the same motors. If you can find that link, its really a better design than mine, but I had space constraints.

I use X10 to remotely turn on my bias light behind the DLP in the theater room. One IR to X10 converter box and one X10 controlled appliance model with one switchable outlet was all that was required. I can point you to the two items I used if needed. I've successfully used both an original Pronto and an MX-700 IR remote to control the outlet and both worked like a champ.

Sure...

For the IR to X10 conversion, you'll need this:

For the X10 controlled split outlet receptacle I used:

Works like a charm.

One word of warning... the relay that switches the X10 outlet on and off is LOUD AS HELL. I really audible CLICK sound. If that bothers you, you might need to look at an alternative method of controlling the light(s).

You can download all of the X10 remote control codes for your Pronto or other learning IR remote from www.remotecentral.com

Let me know if you need more info.
