FYI,

I received a new F38310 to replace the one I bought last fall. Other than a slight squeeze at the edges, only during DVD play, this set is free of any of the previous problems: no color purity problems, the grey bars in the 4:3 mode are vertical, the new tube actually looks to be brighter with better colors (I'm use to cool colors. So I had to back them down quite a bit.) And the video input squeeze (which never bothered me) is less than in the previous set.

Now that I have a great piece of hardware, bring on more HDTV!!

Thanks RCA/Thompson Multimedia.

The squeeze you're referring to may be in all modes, look carefully. At first I thought 'the squeeze' was limited to inputs, but man was I wrong! I'm sorry, but for about $3k this squeezing is unacceptable. Many have claimed their RCA F38310 to be trouble-free, now I'm wondering if they know what to look for.

I'm about to contact RCA to get my set replaced, but I'm hoping to take a different route. Instead of them delivering a set to me, I'm gonna see if I can get them to deliver it to one of their authorized service centers. If the service techs say the TV's picture is 'bug-free', then I can swap them out. I live WAY to far out to be playing the replacement game more than once! I don't know if RCA will accomodate such a request, but I'll give it a try.

Anyhoo, wish me luck!

Jedi,

I just watched the last few minutes of "Dinner with Friends" HBO DirecTV HDTV broadcast. I could not see any evidence of a squeeze.

Pablo,

the model is F38310JX4
