Inserting and removing my A/V cables with RCA type plugs is getting more difficult. Is there a safe lubricant such as vaseline or WD-40 that can be applied to either the cables or the exterior of the receiver's jacks?

I would use Deoxit spray before plugging the jacks to your components. Moreover Deoxit will increase the conductivity of the metal.
