Is there any difference? Do I care?

I have heard that the Sony remote is better than the RCA, but most people use their own custom remote anyway.
Everyone seems to agree that the internals of these two machines are exactly the same. The sony package comes with the keyboard while I believe you have to buy it seperately from the RCA package. Other than that, the sony remote does seem to be slightly better. Personally, I chose the sony unit simply because I found it more attractive.
Pardon me for reviving an old thread. I know the RCA remote sucks. I hate the one for my RCA television. I also know that the software is the same.

In any case, what I wanted to know was about the connections. I can't find a clear picture of the back of the RCA, but from what I can see in a PDF of the RCA manual, it has more outputs than the Sony. Yes, no? Any other reason the Sony is more expensive, besides the Sony name on it?

Thanks

Where have you seen a UTV for $99? Lowest I've seen is $299 at CC with a $100 Microsoft rebate making it $199.
Does anyone want to buy a used UTV for $100? I'll sell mine for that price. It's in perfect working shape but I just prefer the Philips DirecTiVo receiver. Send me a private message if you're interested.

whoever gets it still would have to buy a new card. I can't say why, but you REALLY do want to hold on to that utv. really. good things come to those who wait....

Hmmm, so I should wait? Just PLEASE tell me the menus are faster! The slowness of the menus is killing me trying to watch and record and delete and do this and do that...so much time in between button presses. I can't take much more of that.
Im fairly certain that is fixed. Also the same for recording stuff. Now what is that tivo killer? I'm tired of waiting too....

"that" tivo killer - implies there would be only one killer feature. never assume....
3 good things about the rca:

1) rca remote has an antenna button (switches input), sony doesn't

2) rca keyboard has extra buttons for web features, sony doesn't

3) rca is black, matches most a/v equipment
TomK-

You've got a PM! I'll take your UTV if it's still available. I need one for my mom, and since she's already got DTV she doesn't qualify for the rebates for new subscribers, etc. Thanks....
