Got this e-mail from Pete Putman today:

Just an update that WCAU-DT (NBC) is finally moving its antenna and xmtr

to the new candleabra tower in Roxborough (Philadelphia). If work goes

to schedule, they should be back on CH 67 running full power by next

Monday 9/29 from the new location. The last FCC allocation table showed

WCAU licensed for over 750 kW ERP, and I am not sure if that has changed.

WTXF-DT has also shut down operations during the move. My understanding

from American Tower folks was that WTXF was moving its DTV "stick" back

to its analog tower. The spot had been occupied by another tenant.

WTXF-DT has been broadcasting since 1998 from the old and much lower

WFLN communications tower in Andorra, just north of Roxborough.

It's kind of like a big game of musical chairs. Once completed, WTXF-DT

(CH42) and WCAU-DT should be somewhat stronger as both will be

operating from their final tower locations. The PAX digital station in

Philly is also close to getting OTA. No word on current WGTW-TV (UHF 48,

DTV 27) status.

Hope this clears up some confusion.

Thanks much for the update! At least we know what's going on now. I wish stations would post alerts on their website, but I guess we DTV viewers are easy to ignore.
