I'm curious. I consider myself to be the ultimate shopper, have in fact been asked to leave several establishments over the years because salesmen and or owners don't like to haggle. (since when was this considered to be "shlocky" or in bad taste?) Back to my curiosity, what are you guys in MY area actually paying for BD? I went into my local PC Richards and Son and couldn't get the guy to budge one penny from the price of $999 for the Sony piece. (I'm still undecided about which format to pick, although BD is in my eye going to be the "winner") When I am more convinced, then I will be really haggling, but for now, what did YOU pay for your Sony, Pioneer, Panasonic or Samsung BD payer?

You should buy online. Check out pricing with One Call, Tweeter, B&H Photo and others. One Call, Tweeter and B&H Photo are all reputable dealers who have been in business for many years.

Believe me, I have NO, NONE problems about buying online. ( I have probably saved THOUSANDS when buying for my motorcycles) But with electronics, I reallly like going into stores and "busting" bubbles with the sales people. In any event, who has the best prices online for NEW product with a full manufacturer warranty?

All the firms I mentioned only sell new product with full US warranty (unless they note that it isn't...but I've never seen any grey video or audio products at One Call, Tweeter or B&H. B&H does sell grey camera equipment, but they note it, and it's a separate listing). I have no idea who has the best price because that can change daily...you'll have to check.

Also, I think there's a rule here at AVS about not posting prices.

Paying retail is overrated.

Yarvis, if you don't mind driving to NYC I would try Datavision on 5th and 38-39th street (same block as the NY Public library). First check their website (google 'Datavision'), then the prices on their e-B-a-y store (which are lower than even the low prices of ther website). Armed with those prices go to the store and see if they can meet you somewhere in-between. I almost pulled the trigger on a Sammy LN-S4095D 1080p LCD that was expensive in the store but much cheaper online (salesman came with a price somewhere in-between). They also just re-designed their AV showroom and moved it to the 2nd floor. Nice set-ups and couches to sit on and measure several big-screen TV's.

Thank you for the heads up, I greatly appreciate all of the great responses and help. I certainly don't want to start a problem, just trying to see an average price I guess.

dad:

I don't mine driving anyplace that will save me money. lol (I drove to Philly and bought my Spendor speakers there and saved well over $500. I drove to New Hampshire and bought my Triumph triple motorcycle and saved over $4000!) So I am not adverse to drive to save some dough. I'll check your site and hopefully I will be saving some dough! Thanks again.
