In June I am moving in a new home and will finally be able to have a media room that I have always wanted. In order to inaugurate the room in proper style I am looking for a new TV. I think that the 55 inch range is right where I want to be. My source will be DSS, though I have not made up my mind on the whole HD principle. Most of my TV time is spent watching movies anyhow. Therefore the higher line capabilities of HD and Progressive Scan might be worth the extra money. The two sets that I am trying to decide between are the: Mitsubishi WS-55909 for $3995 or the Mitsubishi WS-55859 for $2890. Does anyone have any experience in this arena. Are these good prices for these sets? Are there other sets to consider? I have heard that Mitsubishi and Toshiba make the best Rear Projection sets, and the Mitsubishi's have the better picture quality. What say you?

You and I seem to be living similar lives. I am also moving in June/July. My thread asking a similar question is floating around somewhere. I went researching and testing TV last weekend. I was very impressed with Pioneer models, and everyone I've talked to seemed very happy with them.

Just my two cents.

You can also find good info on RPTVs at www.***************.com.

I have owned a Pioneer Elite 510 for over a year now and really happy with it. I was impressed by it's picture and it has a good line doubler (see the progressive shootout at www.hometheaterhifi.com ). Before I made my purchased, I did a lot of research and tried to compare TVs side-by-side( I was fortunate to have a store in my area that had Toshibas, Panasonics, and Pioneers in the same room).

Also, try to bring demo material that you are familiar with when shopping.
