Rear Projection??

New to all this and need a little help. I'm looking to buy a 50'' inch TV and have been to the stores to look around but am still unclear about some things. The biggest question I have is what is the advantage of plasma over rear projection?? I'm not worried about the depth or size of the rear projections and see them for about a $1,000 cheaper. I'm assuming that if I hook up component video to a rear projection it would be close to the picture on plasma. Am I wrong??

One more question........Is either LCD or DLP better for a room which will have a lot of sunlight?

yes lcd/dlp would work much better if the room has lot's of light. as far as advantages of plasma over lcd/dlp rear projection is these types of tv's take bulbs that need to be replaced and plasma don't. hope this helps good luck!
